The world of twitter and face book have sucked the life out of me as far as blogging has been concerned lately. Not that I like these places better than Multiply, ’cause I don’t really think that I do, but honestly, I am not the happiest puppy about the new interface here.
Ok, I know it ain’t so new, but I’ve been BUSY and outta town. And I’m sure you’ve all heard that already as well.
I need to write the next installment of my trip. When it was me writing it for my own benefit, it was fun and interesting. Since I posted it on my work blog – as I was requested to do so – I realize that the next installment has become more difficult to write. But write it I will, I suppose, and now with more musical interludes.
Took my dog to the vet today. She has a growth in her mouth that they really aren’t too worried about, but she will have to have surgery. She’s shedding SO BAD that every time she moved, all I could think of was Pig Pen and his little dirt cloud. That’s about what the Piper fluff cloud looked like.
I saw the trailer for the new teen vampire movie today. Hubby called me in to watch it, saying that my new pet phrase from this new movie will trump my old pet phrase from the first movie.
Wondering what it was/is?
Ok, here we go. First movie: {close up of girl with open mouth and trembling lips (her only acting style)} ” v v v Vampire”
New Movie? {close up of girl with mouth hanging open, holding her finger and staring at it } ” pppp Paper Cut”.
And there you have it. A small glimpse into the myriad of strange thoughts that race across my mind.
Before I leave you today, let me tell you just what I did that was silly.
My son called me to chat. We were having a very nice conversation. The dog began to bark. I asked him to hold on, since she wouldn’t stop. I went out to get her, which means of course she launches off the back deck to bark even more at the neighbor. The neighbor says hello. I get the dog in and she knocks the screen door off it’s track. Sheesh. So I fix the door and reply to the neighbor about the new neighbor moving in tomorrow. Once it was decided what we were each going to bake so as not to step on any toes, the foreman for the construction crew that is working on neighbor 2’s yard asks me if I want to go see what they are doing. Being friendly I said, sure!! How many of you remember that by this time I’ve left my son on the phone for at least 20 minutes. I came back inside and you guessed it. There was the most obnoxious sound emanating from my phone. Sorry, Jr.!
I went to the track last weekend to bet on some ponies and enjoy the re-opening of the course for it’s short summer stint before the state fair. Horse racing in Maryland used to be a great industry, but sadly it’s going down fast, and with the most recent ruling by the idiotic powers that be concerning slots, I’m not sure the track that’s been near my my entire life will survive. That’s why I try to go as often as I can. { About slots.. they are considering putting slots at a huge shopping outlet mall deep inside the county that wanted them the least and not at the horse track where the infrastructure pretty much exists and property nearby is ripe for the pickin’ to help build anything more, AND is located on the farthest little tip of the county that didn’t want them in the first place. Idiots} There are usually promotions at the track to up the attendance and last week it was cheap frozen drinks and a band and cheap food and in between all of that, horses would run. A great way to spend the afternoon, tipsy. I thought it odd that they’d seemed to lower the drinking age considerably, but this little girl knew her stuff and was ordering a Guinness.
We have new neighbors moving in today so what is it you are supposed to do to welcome them? You BAKE! I’m going to spend my morning in the kitchen baking what I call, Zoom Zoom cookies. They are a decadent chocolatee chocolate chip cookie and the amount of cocoa in them is kinda like having a cup of coffee laced with sugar. My kids used to say they made them feel like they were flying around the house, hence the name.
Later this evening, a group of friends and I will be going to the drive-in theater. I think it’s one, if not THE last drive-in on the East Coast and we LOVE it. Where else can you find 3 first run movies for $8.00?? (Have you gathered that we love to do simple things that are cheap? Ha!)
So, off I go to create chocolate goodness, and I’ll be back soon with a continuance of the travel blog, along with more music and maybe even a blog or two about my upcoming stay-cation visit with my grand daughter.
Toodles!
