Last week they announced the liquidation and sale of all Borders stock. This makes me sad.
For any who didn’t know, and there must be a few of you if they ended up having to go out of business, Borders was a wonderful bookstore, replete with cafe, book signings and children’s events. I will miss them very much.
My favorite gift has always been a Borders gift card and now I guess I’ll have to settle for a Barnes and Noble card instead. I just don’t like their stores as much as I did Borders. Maybe, if I’m lucky, Barnes and Noble will recognize that the Borders store close to me was very popular and well visited and they’ll move in there. Dunno.
For now, though, I’ll have to satisfy my craving for cruising the stacks and finding gems of goodies surrounded by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and listening to avant garde and soft jazz, by going to the library with my headphones on and sniffing a Kashi TLC Dark Mocha Almond granola bar.
